Grade 3

Welcome to Grade 3! Grade 3 is a year of growth, curiosity, and increasing independence. Students develop the skills to communicate, collaborate, learn, think critically, innovate, and contribute as they build knowledge across all content areas preparing them for continued success in school and beyond.
English Language Arts: Wit & Wisdom
Through the Wit & Wisdom curriculum, students build reading, writing, vocabulary, comprehension, and communication skills while exploring four engaging modules: The Sea, Outer Space, A New Home, and Artists Make Art. Students ask questions, discuss ideas, use evidence, and communicate their thinking.
Mathematics: Illustrative Mathematics 360
Through the Illustrative Mathematics 360 curriculum, students develop mathematical understanding through problem solving, discussion, and exploration. Key areas include multiplication and division, fractions, measurement, data, area, perimeter, geometry, and addition and subtraction.
Science and Social Studies
Students investigate monarch butterflies, force and motion, and fossils through hands-on science experiences. In Social Studies, students explore Connecticut history and early settlers. Learning is enriched through STEAM and Library classes, where students research, create, collaborate, and solve problems.
Together, these experiences help Grade 3 students become confident, capable, and curious learners prepared for continued success.
