Academics

Mary E. Griswold School educates learners in Kindergarten through Grade 5. As you explore each grade level link, you’ll see a continuum of research-based learning programs, activities, and opportunities such as Reader’s Workshop, Writer’s Workshop, and our Investigations© math program. Each grade employs the Words Their Way™ word study program to build phonics, spelling, and vocabulary skills. In Science, students explore a variety of concepts through hands-on and inquiry-based activities. Social Studies instruction requires students to apply reading and writing skills to learn about social topics that affect their world. Technology is integrated throughout the curriculum to facilitate learning and development of 21st Century skills. The goal of our academic programs is to provide experiences that enable children to meet academic and social challenges and develop their potential as life-long learners.
